Ducks and More Ducks

These duck photos are from my archives.  They were all photographed at the Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary in Delta, BC.

I love watching birds but I seldom get to see any variety.
I have to travel a distance before I have any photo opportunities to capture birds other than pigeons, crows, seagulls and sparrows.

I guess that is true of anyone who is a city dweller and would like to photograph birds.

I think the detail on the feathers of these ducks is so beautiful.

  4. Mallards are the quintessential duck of city parks, but Vancouver is blessed with a multitude of locations where many other species can be observed.

  8. Love the details. If one has to settle for only a few ducks, I say that Mallards are always good ones - so colorful and the details in their feathers are amazing. There is a pair of Mallards that wanders about our neighborhood - they muck about in the water running beside the edges of the woods across the street and I love to stop and get photos often - they are used to the cars and don't run away - I have many, many photos - never can pick a favorite.

  9. So tell me now. How long has the Penny been up in your header? We have the odd mallard where the river remains open in the winter. They are tough birds.

  15. A delightful series of captures Penny. Thank you for dropping by my blog and for your generous comments. You live in a wonderful part of our world - I shall be passing through Vancouver en route to Vancouver Island in summer for a 3 month house-sit and looking forward to it immensely (it will be my 4th trip to the island - it has totally captured my heart!). Keep "shooting" and sharing :-)

I never really get a chance to see ducks that close. We do have herons though in our city, and I love watching them. Thank you for sharing!! Have a blessed day!
