May Skies - Skywatch Friday

Hello friends and fellow bloggers,

Today I'm sharing a collage of skies overhead on Wednesday and Thursday. We've had a bit of rain as well but hopefully the sun returns soon.

Thank you for your visit. Enjoy your weekend.

Hello May - Tuesday 4

Welcome friends!

This week's Tuesday 4 in memory of our friend Toni Taddeo is from Mary who blogs at Visits With Mary and it's all about the month of May. Thanks Mary!

 Hello May

1. May’s First Glimpse — What is the very first thing you notice or feel when May arrives each year?

The first thing I notice is more sunshine and more light. I also seem to have more energy to tackle larger tasks around the house.

2. Simple May Joys — What small pleasures do you look forward to in May — flowers, breezes, routines, or traditions?

I look forward to it all, more greenery, leaves on deciduous trees, flowers, anything that grows outside. I look forward to fresh air by opening windows and more walks in the sunshine before the days get too hot.

3. May Memories — Do you have a favorite May memory from childhood, family life, or recent years?

When I was a child May was still a cold month, school was still in session and we could even have freak snowstorms in June though it was rare. All this to say I don't have any favourite memories from the month of May.  However, May is my birth month and every month thereafter we have a family birthday to celebrate until October. After that I look forward to Thanksgiving & Christmas.  In May of each year, I mainly look forward to these events involving loved ones.  If we are together we have family dinners to celebrate with cake and take away meal.  If we are not together, I always try to remember their birthday with cards, phone calls and sometimes gifts.  It also seems that many of my close friends celebrate birthdays in May.  This keeps me busy remembering them with gifts, cards & lunches where possible. In fact, right now I'm behind schedule in remembering the birthdays of 2 out of town friends who celebrate their birthdays in a few days. So you know what I'll be doing tomorrow!

4. May Intentions — What gentle goals or hopes do you carry into this new month?

To get the community garden consistently watered and the patio garden planted and tended.

I like the idea of sitting outside more often this year and hope to do so on the patio.  To create time for this relaxation, a lot of work is going on inside and outside to deep clean, & get large tasks out of the way.  The balcony pavers, railings and furniture have all been deep cleaned, windows are being cleaned inside and outside, the carpeting indoors is being given a thorough cleaning and various other seasonal tasks are being done.

April and May are always busy months with the gardens that need planting. It's also the time when so many other things gear up and/or need doing before I can relax and enjoy the summer.

If you've read this far, thank you.  I appreciate it.  Have a wonderful week.

Before & After ~ Skywatch Friday

I took a few photos of the night sky before I went to sleep the other night.

About 8 hours later I took another few photos.

I was pleasantly surprised to see the sky clear up quite a bit because I had to go out and do some errands. It started to cloud over again around 5 p.m. but by that time I was more or less finished with my errands.

Have an awesome weekend.

Skywatch Friday ~ May 16, 2025

Hello everyone,

After some sunny but not yet quite hot weather, we are now getting more spring showers. You know the old saying?  April showers, brings May flowers. But it feels much colder than usual at this time of year and though I know there are flowers elsewhere, mine aren't yet at that stage.

Anyway, I take the rain as it comes. I don't mind it as long it isn't raining heavily for weeks on end as it can sometimes do.  We west coasters get out and about no matter the weather.  Today I had to get out for a walk and do some errands.  I don't carry an umbrella anymore and since it was more than drizzling, I stopped to buy a plastic rain poncho at the dollar store.

After running errands I stopped for a Japanese Bento Box of Chicken Teriyaki and tea to warm up.  It was delicious.

Once I got home, I finished crocheting a set of dishcloths. This is the first time I've made this pattern and actually the first time I've made a crocheted dishcloth. Normally I make a simple knitted version.  I picked the pattern from a YouTube video. The pattern is called Berry Pattern.

I hope you are enjoying the weather and the skies where ever you are. Thanks for stopping by my post for this week's Skywatch Friday.

We Made it to the Middle of May

Hello friends and fellow bloggers,

I trust you had a great week.  We've been having spectacular weather with sunny days, blue skies and warm weather all month. It's been a super busy week for me.  But I made some time for a walk to take photos.  It was a perfect day for a walk.

May is such a beautiful month.  It's also my birthday month.  I love being born in the month of May.

The weather makes me happy because the skies get blue, the grass gets green, flowers bloom and the weather warms up, but doesn't get too hot.  I find the change of season also makes others very happy and everything is just that much nicer.

I'm being treated to a fabulous lunch at a beautiful venue early next week in celebration of my birthday.  If it isn't going to be too uncouth I'll take some photos to share.

It's a long weekend here. Whether you have a long weekend or not, I hope you enjoy it immensely.

Thank you for stopping by. Joining in with Skywatch Friday.

First Monday in May

Hi friends and fellow bloggers,

How are you all doing today?  I'm still very busy with errands and such.  Some of you know that I've been on a mission to find Brasso (metal cleaner/polisher) and some neutral shoe polish since last Friday to no avail.

Sky around 5:30 a.m. Monday

I checked one more store in the neighbourhood today just on a lark because I had to pass by there on my way to drop off a book at the library.

Sky at 4:45 p.m.

Sky at 4:45 p.m.

Lo and behold the store had Brasso.  They didn't have any neutral shoe polish but they did have something called Dubbin.  This isn't what I need for a particular project but it will come in handy for conditioning leather items and the leather sofa so I bought it. Tomorrow I'll check some other stores for the neutral shoe polish.  I could order it on line.  But I'm on a mission to see if and where I can find it locally in case I needed or wanted to buy these items again.

Sky at 7:55 p.m.

Dinner of pork chops, tater tots and pico de gallo

I'm thinking of posting daily or almost daily for awhile just because at this time of year I love what I see in the sky and all the greenery around me. I hope you'll come and visit again soon.
