February's Changing Sky

The sky is always changing and giving us lots of enjoyment. The month of February is no exception. Though it is our winter season and the skies are often a dull, grey blanket, there is always some colour and variation to be found if one looks up every day.

Beauty in Twinkle at Twilight

I am blessed.

 This week, I was admiring all the twinkling lights and freshly fallen snow on the mountains.

So I stopped to take a few photos.

As I did, many stopped to admire the beauty too and acknowledged me by smiling and saying some wonderful words about the beauty before us.  I was glad to pause and commune with others in gratitude for the beauty that is here.

For when we live in a place of such beauty we should never neglect to give gratitude.
When we see moments of beauty we should always pause even ever so briefly and drink it in.

Today I say "Happy Birthday" to my beautiful (late) sister who was born on this day.
We miss her still and have the hope that one day we will reunite.
Today I also bid adieu to an auntie who I will not see again on this earth.
Rest well in God's arms until we meet again.
Today I give thanks that the Pokot man and my friend Jonah have both had surgery and come out of it.
Now I pray for their full recovery.
Time on earth is in God's hands alone.
Let us give thanks for every breath we take.

~~~~~
In beauty I walk
With beauty before me I walk
With beauty behind me I walk
With beauty above me I walk
With beauty around me I walk
It has become beauty again
It has become beauty again
It has become beauty again
It has become beauty again
Beauty in the Sky
A pessimist sees only the dark side of the clouds, and mopes; a philosopher sees both sides, and shrugs; an optimist doesn't see the clouds at all - he's walking on them. ~Leonard Louis Levinson
God writes the Gospel not in the Bible alone, but also on trees, and in the flowers and clouds and stars. ~ Author unknown, commonly attributed to Martin Luther
And they were canopied by the blue sky, So cloudless, clear, and purely beautiful, That God alone was to be seen in Heaven. ~Lord Byron
What do I See?
What do I see when I look at you?
Beauty
What do I feel when I look at you?
Wonder
What do I know when I look at you?
Power & Majesty
The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Beauty of Nature
Yesterday as I took a walk in the neighbourhood I snapped these photos while returning from my doctor's office. It was a beautiful Spring day. It seems one of the rare beautiful days we've had in a long while. How I appreciate those days when they do come, especially in Spring which is my favourite time of year. It is the time when trees begin to bud and early plants begin to sprout. A time when snows and rain have ceased and God once more restores and unfolds his beautiful creation to refresh us.
This blog contains my little haiku verse and slide show set to traditional koto music. It is my praise to God for giving us the beautiful masterpiece of creation and natural beauty. For those of you who are weary of the long winter and the dark nights of the soul, I pray that the words and images which follow and the beautiful, traditional koto music, will be like a healing balm for your soul.
snow is now far gone
the days of misery past
in its place, beauty
The flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land.
Song of Solomon 2:12
