Every year at this time I am amazed at how the weather dramatically shifts from Summer to Fall.
Overnight the temperature goes from warm to chilly once September arrives. It never fails though often once that happens we continue with much warmer weather into September and sometimes even October.
Soon we will be singing this song (Fall officially begins on September 22nd this year)
These dramatic sky shots were taken with my smartphone while in the car home to Vancouver from visiting my mom in the Interior of the province.
Once in Vancouver it was also cloudy and has been cloudy and a bit rainy every day since.
Before I left for a week to see my mother I put most of my potted plants in the shade and watered them.
They held up well but the season for growing is pretty much over, especially as far as pansies (violas) go.
I took this horizon shot yesterday.
Today is the first day back to school for all university students and anyone in grade school.
The weather forecaster predicted rain until around noon but I think it seems to have stayed dry. At least in my neighbourhood.
After the events of the past few weeks I am still recovering my energy levels.
I am finally going to meet a friend today.
We will see the new movie
(if you click on the linked title you can read all about ir and/or see a trailer).
I haven't read the book yet but I'm sure I'll enjoy the movie.
Update on mom: She has improved the use of her right hand/arm and continues valiantly to speak. Some days it is hard to make sense of what she is saying but I know she is working hard at it. I find if I just ask her a question she can answer 'yes' or 'no' and that way she doesn't have to get frustrated. I know she has asked for prayer to speak again and I've assured her that is what we are praying for.
Update on Eunice in Kenya: Eunice underwent surgery late last week and returned home yesterday. Thank God.
I don't know much more than that or even whether she can speak. I hope to find out more later.
I'm linking up to Our World Tuesday and later in the week, Skywatch Friday.
Have a wonderful day everyone.

School started here today too. However, cool weather didn't come with September - it is very hot and humid today! I love the sky shot!
Thanks for the update on your mom and Eunice.
Your flowers are looking very beautiful ♥

Beautiful sky shots and your garden flowers are so pretty!
Fortunately it is not cold yet, although it rained the last days. Today we have summer again, for me it could last the whole year ! I don't like fall and winter !
We've had some cooler mornings too although it does get hot later. Less humidity though which is welcome. I'm glad to hear that Mom is improving. It must be so frustrating for her not to be able to speak as she wants. Lovely but threatening looking sky photos! Have a great day.
Those words fit so well to When the Saint go Marching In, I will be humming it all day now. Love your sky shots. Happy to hear that your Mum is improving but it sounds like you have a long road ahead of you, take care, prayers are with you. Hope also all is well with Eunice. Have a good and peaceful week Diane
Oh, I loved the movie "Light Between Oceans." It was quite tragic but beautifully done. Nice photos in today's blog. Happy end-of-summer, welcome fall! Susan
The beginning of Sept. brings many changes. I think school starting jolts us into reality. We had frost this morning. I hope your Mom makes continued progress.
Enjoyed your pictures. Even the one with the power lines! :-) Your song at the beginning reminded me of another fall song favorite of mine: September Song. Take a listen here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9nSgMwtkK0 There is fog on the Sound this morning and it definitely feels like fall. Continuing my prayers for your mom. Hope you have a happy September!
Ohh Vancouver is such a nice place.i cant belive my mom left the place for to live in Norway.
i enjoy you post and happy to see you again:)
Thank you John. Am glad you like the power lines ;-) Thank you so much for remembering my mom in prayer.
Thank you for prayers Diane. Enjoy your holiday & stay safe. xx
I agree Susan. I did enjoy the film though it was quite tragic. Happy Fall to you too. I know you will likely be doing a lot of seasonal decorating as Thanksgiving and Christmas approach. xx
Yes that is for sure. As a teacher, I'm sure you know this better than many. I can't believe you got frost so early this year. I appreciate your wishes for my mom.
Wow! Anita. I didn't know you had a Canadian connection. We are blessed here with lots of natural beauty but I know Norway is spectacular too.
Thank you for visiting Mari. I hope the hot and humid days end soon though that brings you closer to the colder days of Winter. Brr. I heard we will have La Nina Winter which apparently means a cold winter after El Nino Summer when it was cooler and wet. I've got my long coat at the ready ;-)
Thank you Summer for your lovely comment.
Thank you Nancy!
It has been a bit chilly this week and last week Gattina but next week we are expecting sunshine and a return to warmer temperatures. That will be welcome before the cold weather sets in. I love Fall myself. Winter, not so much ;-)
Hi Melanie, I believe you experience a lot more humidity than we do and longer period of hot weather. I am glad we don't get such a long period of anything though sometimes it seems that way *smile. I like the 4 seasons as each brings their beauty. Funny how the sky looks so threatening but the weather was rather mild.
I'm grateful to hear that your mother is rallying well, gaining some motion and doing her best to speak. At some point, she may want to check out speech therapy. I say this because a friend's mother completely lost speech yet was able to get it back in large part with a good therapist. I'm not sure of the mechanics or how that works in Canada but if she is game, it might be worth a shot.
Meanwhile, your skies are quite dramatic. I saw my share of dramatic skies yesterday and now I wish I'd had my camera with me!
Thank you Jeanie. Yes we spoke with the doctor and speech language pathologist (SLP) at the hospital. they said her speech may return spontaneously and if it doesn't they wouldn't want to recommend anything until she is stabilized which could be anywhere from 1 month to several because it can be more frustrating for the patients. We also have an issue with availability of SLP so we will see how things go.
It is a huge shift and I feel lucky it's not all that dramatic yet, Joyful. Glad you had a cooler summer, it was fairly miserable here, but I see the rain has stopped and am off to check out some lovely scenery near by. Yout cloud photos look almost alien, as if they're going to lift you up into the mother ship. Am digging the leaf song.
What wonderfully dramatic skies.
Wonderful Skywatch Friday shots! Such pretty flowers in bloom.
Hello, love the dramatic skies. I like the rays coming thru the clouds on the first shot. Schools have opened here too but they keep closing because of our hot weather. The school closing are one without air conditioning. Your flowers look pretty. Happy Friday, enjoy your weekend!
Like a cloudy sky .Enjoy the weekend!
Love the pictures of the clouds as you traveled homeward...and the horizon from your porch I assume. So glad to hear that your mother is making progress, as well as Eunice in Kenya. We will continue to pray for both. May your fall days be full of joy and blessing.
dramatic sky indeed. all the best for your Mum's recovery.
Beautiful sky.
Every year the autumn will come faster and faster.. :)
Good news about your Mom, now I want you to take good care of yourself!
Meredith
