Sky Tonight

View north to the mountains which are obscured by low lying cloud.

When night falls, the cross on the church steeple will be illuminated.

Southeastern view of the sky.  I always like to see the flag waving in the wind.

At last we might be getting a bit of rain here in Vancouver. Not much has fallen yet but hopefully tonight it will.

Checking in with Skywatch Friday.

I like the flag atop all, too. Have you been able to see any meteorites?

You obviously watch and know this sky. I hope you get rain. We had heavy rain in Central Alberta last night.

Lovely grey skies and steeples. We did get a little rain, but now I see predictions of a couple of days in the 90's and then possibly more rain. Rain though lovely can give the tomatoes early blight.

Hi Joyful, These are some neat sky photos. I like Vancouver generally, but especially the area around your neighborhood. It looks friendly and seems to be very active. In your photo looking north I see a place called Joe’s Grill. On the web it is listed as a spot for breakfast/brunch but with long lines on weekends. Wonder if you’ve tried it and what your take on it would be? Wasn’t it nice to have some clouds and rain? I thought it amusing to be living here in Seattle and wishing for clouds and rain … ha ha … but it was so wonderful when it happened on Friday. Wow, we had some heavy downpours to clean everything out and even some thunder to go with. Very pleasant temperatures for a change as well. Honestly, I do not know how people can enjoy living down in the south where temps are high and humidity too. Yes, I know … air conditioning … but even so, just going out and finding it blazing hot in your parked car … no fun. Getting back to your pictures … that lighted cross is so wonderful. Hope you will get more pics of it as night falls. Hope you are having a fine weekend.

We've had cloudy skies for the past 2 days and temperature dropped too.

Maybe it's not the best time to be out but no matter how the sky looks like, nature always has it best.

The flag and the steeple are set off beautifully by the gray skies. We had torrents of rain today but we needed it, too, so I can't send you some!
