I was preparing to go to the community garden plot on Saturday because we had a sunny day.
However we had a snowy hail fall down fast and furious that afternoon.
It looked quite eerie and the sky was quite dark.
The birds were flapping crazily but they quickly disappeared.
I couldn't do any outdoor gardening but I managed to repot a number of indoor plants that were very much in need of it.
I've done a lot of reading over the cold, darker months. These are the books I've completed to date.
Out of the completed books I most enjoyed A Trial in Venice, Pure Land, The Shogun's Queen and The Goldfinch.

I'm currently reading The Last Concubine (the 2nd in the series written by Lesley Downer), Wardrobe Wake Up and The Orphan Thief.

Hi Mari, I'm glad you enjoyed the book. I had to wait quite a long while for it through my library. If you enjoyed it I've heard there is another similar book called The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek.
Any reading is good reading says one teacher to another :-) I will add "How Green Was My Valley" to my list. I remember the movie by the same name.
It was very unusual. I don't think it did any damage.
The hail came down fast and furious and the sky was very dark. But once the hail stopped it very quickly melted. I made some good headway on book reading over January and February while it was cold and dark.

I thought maybe the birds were frightened. They flew around like they were not quite sure what to do. But then I've seen them do that early in the morning without rain, snow or hail.
I hear you. Despite knowing that this time comes every year. I am never quite ready. Often I might be ready then the weather doesn't cooperate or the weather is lovely but I'm not ready!
Yes I've gotten ahead in my reading though now I probably will slow down with gardening season upon us shortly.
That was some hail storm. I love reading when its raining outside, but I haven't that many books in our rainy season.
Yes it was quite the sight. Very different from hail storms I've experienced before. I'm glad you are able to enjoy reading during the rain. We get a lot of rain here too. I wonder if that makes more avid readers because in my city you will always see people reading in cafes and on transit.
You captured the feel of the hail storm really well. I can think of nothing better to do than snuggle down with a good book when the weather is dark and gloomy outside.
we have had occasional bouts of hail but no snow thankfully. I am really looking forward to spring now.

Wow, thank goodness we have so far missed any big hail storms for a while. The last one broke a whole lot of our roof tiles and the rain flooded the house!! I am struggling with finding time for reading, the only time I read now is in bed at night. Keep well Diane

Hi Joyful!! Hail does seem unusual! It seems biblical, as it was one of the plagues as we start to get ready for Passover, I think of that!! God has so many kinds of weather in His great storehouse!! I could almost hear the sound of the hailstones from your photos. It hailed, too, in my part of the world, suddenly during the warm spell. It looked like the final stand of winter against spring because the weather has gotten milder and milder after the hail. You read such many books only autumn-to-winter season. The Plague by Albert Camus is selling well again in Japan under the circumstances. Take care.
