I hope you are all well and looking forward to the weekend. I don't know about you but even now that I'm retired, I always look forward to the weekend. I guess it's because I know I likely won't take or make any business type phone calls for a few days, lol.
Last week my brother and I went on a day trip to visit a family member for the day. We travelled from Vancouver to Kamloops, which is a distance of 354 kilometres or 220 miles. I'd been wanting to make this trip for many months but various things kept me busy at home.
Here are a few photos taken along the highway. The skies were mostly clear when we left Vancouver. But along the way and in Kamloops itself, the sky was very hazy due to the smoke from the wildfires burning several hours to the west of where we were. I was glad we travelled when we did. If we had left a day later we would have been sitting for hours on the highway due to road closures caused by a vehicle on fire.
In the last photo we are beginning our approach into the city of Kamloops. As you can see the smoke was pretty thick.
Thanks for coming along with us on this Skywatch Friday road trip.

I love me a road trip especially when it goes through the mountains!!
What a beautiful day for a drive!
Kamloops is an interesting area to drive through. There's also lots of history in the area.
Road trips are fun.
Looks like a lovely drive until you get to the smoke.
Nice road trip.
Sad to see the sky filled with wildfire smoke. That is a long way to drive but a pretty drive too.
Hazy skies or not, road trip through that area looks so special!
You have had more than your share of wildfires this year, but each fire season seems to come earlier and is worse than previous years. We spent eleven days on Vancouver Island last month and there were no fires there, fortunately. Stay well and stay safe.
Smoke is not great.
Take care. Are you still dealing with poor air quality and smoke?
Worth a Thousand Words
The air is fine where I live. It probably isn't fine on the drive we were on because the wild fires are still burning.
Thanks for taking us along. I love seeing new places.
dear Joyful ! what a lovely trip to meet your family members along with your dear brother !
skies are stunning indeed except when you reach near the area where fires are ,it breaks my heart always to hear such news as i love plants ,trees and greenery so much !
sending you much love and prayers ! and hope your family meeting went great :)
Sounds like a good trip despite the smoke. We are getting some of it here from Bordeaux, plus the smell!! Take care Penny, Cheers Diane
