Happy Friday

Thank you to my newest follower Colleen. Hello  my fellow Canadian.

A friend is someone who knows the song in your heart and can sing it back to you when you have forgotten the words.  (Kenyan Proverb)

In my last post I wrote about how I was waiting to pick up a table and chairs from the city. I have them home now and I am very happy!  I still have the antique dining table and chairs to offload so I haven't got a photo of new set in my home for you yet but I do have this photo of the exact table and chairs I purchased.

I'm sure I will like the set very much.  The table is round and they say that round tables are good for smaller spaces.  I was also able to gift my friends with a recliner that I wanted to sell. They have need of a recliner so it worked out great!

(Update added later:  As an afterthought I figured I should let you know that this purchase is the first furniture purchase I've made for the apartment for about 11 years, with the exception of replacing furniture ruined by the fire. Those costs were covered by the insurance company.  I'm working very hard to cut down or cut out other household purchases altogether in my quest for a simple life although my sofa and chair which are  almost two decades old may need to be replaced soon. I've been looking at reupholstery, second hand and new options for the sofa and chair.  Really I think they need to be replaced rather than reupholstered as they are a little too large for the space.)

I have now finished my 5th full day of the whole body cleanse which I told you about here. I haven't noticed any major changes though I can say the fibre and laxative are keeping me more regular and that is a key benefit for me right now. I do have a few breakouts on my face the past few days but nothing atrocious. I understand that this happens when toxins are being eliminated from the body. I think in another 9 days I will feel a little better, a little lighter somehow, and that is all good.

It snowed yesterday and overnight the night before.  This was very surprising after a warm spell but the snow didn't last long. In fact it is all gone today and there is still a gray sky with some light rain falling. I am grateful for rain and warmer weather because it means that spring will come early here and with that the lovely spring blossoms which I love so much.

A photo from Kenya. I was fascinated by all the bird's nests in each tree.

I may be taking a few days break from posting as I
am busy with a lot of things at the moment.
In the meantime, enjoy your weekend and your
loved ones.  I'd love to hear what you have planned.

Hi Penny, what a beautiful set of table and chairs. Such clean lines and suited to your room. I love the Kenyan proverb and photo of birds' nests. I wonder if they're a type of sparrow weaver or weavers' nests. If you have a chance, do check out my post tomorrow. I think YOU will relate. Blessings and have a good rest this weekend. (((hugs))) Jo

Hope your cleanse continues to go well - I've done one before, and didn't really see results until the second week. But there were huge payoffs in the end.

Congrats on your fast and glad you picked up your lovely table..round is better in that regard. Our place is small and we have an oblong. Anyway, that has got to be the prettiest tree I've seen in awhile! I was going to say birds nests (unique, to me anyway)..but they resmeble moss here.
Have a great weekend-

Thank you Jo. I love the new table and chairs also though I have to get rid of the old set before i can really enjoy the new. I've checked out your new post and I'm delighted you'll be in Kenya. Lots of wonderful photo ops there. I'll be sharing a lot of my photos in near future also.

The Professor's Wife, it is good to know you never really noticed a difference on the cleanse until the second week. This is the first cleanse I've done where I continue to eat food, rather than fast. I am trying to make healthier food choices also. When you were on the cleanse was it one where you fast or one where you continue to eat? I am diabetic so can no longer do a food free cleanse.

Hi Penny, Glad all well with you, and you are satisfied with the regime you embarked on.
Must say the dining suite looks very elegant.
I am trying to think how long we have had our lounge suite, the fabric is getting shabby, but it is very comfortable. Trust you will find the solution to your sofa and chair issue.
Blessings for your weekend,
Hugs, Jan

Hi Jan, all is coming along in my new regime but it is certainly keeping me busy all around! I thought the dining table and chairs looked rather elegant also when I decided to buy them a few weeks ago. At the same time, they look solid and heavy rather than dainty and modern. I prefer solid furniture that will stand the test of time. My sofa and chairs looked a little long in the teeth years ago and I have been using slip covers for years now. I'm not so happy with the slip covers even though they are washable. They are not custom made and don't quite fit in the all the right places or they are too big in other places. I am still grateful to have them though so at least the sofa "matches" the rest of the room, lol.

Penny is your name. How lovely. I'm Heidi and I guess you've figured that out. So glad you're happy with a new sleeker look. Round is great. I think you are going to buy a new sofa too. It just makes sense to downsize like you said. Spring in TO is not likely to come soon. We sit in a deep freeze at the moment.

I love the golds and blues in the tree picture. And I love the table and chairs, very classy. Around here, it costs more to reupholster something than to buy a new one. We once had a recliner reupholstered and it came out awful, he had changed the shape of the headrest. But we had paid him for the labor and nothing could be done with it. But that job costs lots more than a new recliner would have, and turned out badly.

I'm so glad you like the photos Ginny. I have to agree that reupholstery which I think once was a frugal way to recyle your furniture has now gotten outrageously expensive. Of course I could perhaps do it myself but I don't feel up to that and fabric around here is also extremely expensive. I remember long ago (11 years or so) when I got the antique table and chairs and the fabric for just the 6 chairs was hundreds of dollars! So I am not about to spend that on fabric for the sofa and chairs. Unfortunately that is why landfills are filled :-(
