These photos were taken the day of the night we were expecting our usual winter rains, and warmer temperatures. In fact, they said a storm was on the way. Hence the title of my post. It didn't rain or storm that night after all. In fact it took another few days before the storm arrived. When it did arrive, it knocked out many power lines, shut down traffic on the mountain highway, closed schools in some places, and shut down many ferry runs between the mainland and Vancouver Island. Fortunately my household was not affected.
The sky didn't have a lot of variation in it but the birds and mountains give it a bit of interest.
If you look closely to the right of the photo you will see four birds in flight. |
This photo capture two birds in flight but they look like black specks. |

Nice view of the mountains. Have a great weekend!
Wonderful shots.
Living in the flat Netherlands, I always like to see mountains.
Thank you for your words in my site!
Your landscapes are wonderful to see. We have snow and frosts but no mountains :)
Happy weekend to you!
I'm pleased you are all safe and trust the rain was useful too.
Great photos with your article. (LM)
Great catch with the birds, it's always fun to find them in pictures!
Very picturesque view!
Enjoy the weekend:-)
Beautiful shots!
Have a great weekend :O)
Looks really wonderful
Winter time is upon us.
Wow, not much skiing happening on the North Shore that week. Makes me think of the snowmakers they had to use for the Olympics.
One winter, when I was commuting (night shift) from White Rock to the Pacific Press building at 5th and Granville, I bought four studded snow tires. There was not a flake of snow in the Lower Mainland that entire winter. Sometime in the 70s. Everyone at work thanked me, but I had the noisiest little car on Hwy. 99. LOL

Hello Joyful.
Great pictures you show - it looks cold out.
It is bitterly cold in Denmark right moment "Siberian cold" - 17.0 degrees, but it feels colder.
We have snow since 26.01., Not for long, last winter we had snow from November - March (winter for 4 months)
We've both been sick from flu but are on the right track.
How cool are you in Canada?
Hope you are doing well - remember to take good care of yourself.
Hugs Hanne Bente ♥
Hi Kay, we have had fresh snowfall on the mountains a few times this winter so I think skiing has been okay this season. Your story is funny :-)
Thank you, Hanne. I hope it warms up for you soon. It is quite warm here right now. It is about +7 Celsius give or take a degree. It was cold here in last part of November but since then it hasn't been so bad. I hope you and your husband get well soon. Knus, Joyful
Beautiful mountains, not so much of snow yet !
The mountains are beautiful! It's been raining and cold here, so I haven't been out taking many pictures. I'm really ready for some spring color.
Always love to see your mountains, and the sky does look a bit threatening in the second shot. Glad everything safe at your place!
Blessings,
Jan
We could sure use some rain and snow down here in northern California. The storm you got skipped over us! I'm sure it's nice to see some blue skies again. Enjoy and thanks for stopping by at my sunny sky.
