This lap blanket will be finished today or tomorrow. I'm pleased with how it's turning out. |

This is my latest book. It is easy to read and later I discovered that it is actually a child's book and comes with illustrations in the child's version. Interestingly, the author is described in one site as a pre-J.K. Rowlings kind of author and this book was somewhat of a departure for her. It's a delightful book. You can learn more by checking amazon.com. The book is called "The Star of Kazan". I'm still working on "Paris 1919" as I set it aside for awhile. Both books are good reads. |
What are your simple pleasures this week?
Love the blanket, and the book sounds interesting.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you're doing well, Penny. I'm glad.

I am doing well, Kay. Thanks so much for your visit. I recommend the book if you can find it. It is a simple and quick read, but engagingly told story.
DeleteI have a similar lap blanket, isn't the knitting unusual and pretty. That book cover promotes interest..I love to read and have so much to do. Its a wonderful pass time. Much love xx
ReplyDeleteOh it's cool that you have a similar lap blanket. I think a lap blanket is just right in this stitch as a larger blanket would be too heavy. I'm making ths one for mom. I hope you can read the book. I think you'd find it a pleasurable read. Blessings and love. Enjoy the rest of your holidays. xx
DeleteLovely to see your lap blanket and interesting books, Penny. I did start blankets from squares, and only completed one, then got more interested in the teddy bears, I'm now on my third one since I handed the last lot in on the first Tuesday of this month.
ReplyDeleteBut our simple pleasures this week have been our concerts in the residential homes, as we do each month, it is lovely to see them joining in and to accept their positive comments afterwards.
Blessings, Jan
Jan, I know what you mean about starting the blankets and getting more interested in teddy bears. I may make one or two more blankets but I don't think it is my thing, lol. I like quicker projects.
DeleteI am so glad you and your husband enjoy the concerts. Now that mom is in a care home, I know just how much she and all her co-residents appreciate the people who come in to give them music or lead them in worship services. Blessings.
Hello Joyful.
ReplyDeleteVery nice rug you made - I love even of low handwork.
I do not read books anymore, but have read some of "my young days."
Wishing you a good day - hope you are well.
Take care of yourself.
Hugs Hanne Bente ♥
Thank you, Hanne for your kind words. Have a wonderful day!♥
DeleteLap blankets are great. Did you hear about the sweater day in BC?
ReplyDeleteThanks,Ann. No idea what sweater day is.
Deletemy simple pleasure this week has been staying home all week- I am on a mission to clean out every closet, cabinet, crook and cranny, while the cleaning out is hard work, the results are very pleasurable.
ReplyDeleteI have always liked those zig-zaggy afghans, are you using scrap yarn to make it?
Hi Rhonda, cleaning the house is hard work but immensely satisfying once you have things in order and the way you like it.
DeleteI am using mostly scrap yarn to make the afghan. That is why it is a bit crazy, lol.
Good wwork Joyful - on both projects. I don't plan to make a rug - but could read another good book... maybe while I'm walking thetrail with Jack in Maine this summer? Hahahah. One never knows, does one?
ReplyDeleteThanks Fred! Who is Jack? One never knows, indeed! LOL.
DeleteThe lap blanket is wonderful and I'm reading a good book too and I don't think it will be finished soon because there are about 500 pages and I have just started reading it;o)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing;o)

Happy day****
Mildred, I understand what you mean about your book as the Paris 1919 book is about 500 pages too. Every now and then I pick one like that ;-) Enjoy your book.
DeleteI love the colour and pattern of theta lap blanket.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Heidi. I'm finished it now but I still have to weave in all the thread ends and decide if I need to add an edging.
DeleteHi Joyful,
ReplyDeleteI love the simple things in life too. The simpler, the better I find. The pictures of the sunset are just beautiful by the way. Hope you are having a lovely weekend.
Hello Lyn, so nice to hear from you. I love simple things. Thank you for the nice compliment. Beautiful nature is usually free for us all to enjoy :-)
DeleteLove the sunsets! My daughter and I have been crocheting to raise money for her trip back to Kenya and SA this summer. She has been making animal beanies and they are so cute. Now we just have to sell them!!
ReplyDeleteI love sunsets too! Your daughter is blessed to have you helping her :-)
