A Glorious Day After All

Everyone must have felt that a cheerful friend is like a sunny day, which sheds its brightness on all around; and most of us can, as we choose, make of this world either a palace or a prison. ~ John Lubbock

Today started off cloudy and threatening to rain.
(I didn't get a photo of the cloudy sky for comparison).

I was getting together for breakfast with a friend from Alberta, who if I am lucky, I get to see once a year.

Last year it was coffee and muffins at my home. This year it was breakfast out. Her treat.

We dined, drove around, then dined some more.

I forgot to take photos of the food.

Well it wasn't much.

She had a BIG salad. I had clam chowder soup and a fresh Caesar salad. It was the first time I've had Caesar salad without the romaine lettuce leaves being torn into bite sized pieces. But the capers were certainly nice!

The day turned  out to be sunny and warm.

The scenery from my chair was spectacular.

I love days like this.

I hope you are enjoying your weekend.

  1. Clam Chowder, I wonder if I would enjoy this? Glad to hear you had a visit with your friend and great to see the fabulous view from your seat! Wonderful! I love the quote at the top of this post. It is something I "know" but often forget. Blogland always reminds me of this. x

  5. It's been so long since I lived in Vancouver that I really recognize nothing except the water and the lovely mountain backdrop. You live in a very beautiful city, Penny.

    1. I understand Clair. Most of that skyscrapers that you see across the water were not there when I first moved to Vancouver many years ago.And the development continues....

  14. Hi Joy! Sorry the food was not great, but being with your friend is the prize, isn't it? What would we do without our 'cheerful' friends? That boat called 'Relief' was so cute!

Wish I could have sat with you and taken in the view! I'll take the photos as a second prize :)
    Happy Tuesday!

  17. Honestly, Joyful. I'm trying to figure out how one would eat Caesar Salad WITHOUT tearing up the Romaine. Sounds like it became figure food.

Loved the bridge pictures. I really like all that ironwork.

  20. Love these photos, Penny. My old stomping grounds. Am guessing you went to Granville Island, judging by the angle of the view of the Burrard St. Bridge. I used to work in the Pacific Press Building (Sun and Province) which was at 5th & Granville, before Granville Island became a tourist destination.
    Wonderful, wonderful photos.
