Peace

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.

Matthew 5:9

Would that there be peace in the world so that the killing of innocent people like in Pakistan and Kenya can be ended.

The World Day of Peace (September 21) has passed.
But each of us can still all do our part for peace in this world; through prayer, through awareness, through understanding one another and supporting one another.

Very true, what you have to say here. I am thankful for the Lord's protective hand on my sister and bro-in-law. They are in Kenya on a mission and they were near that explosion the day before, but on the day of it they were not even close. Thank you Jesus!

Important words Penny. I was listening to a video today and these words stuck with me, "Love is possible love exists. The alternative just keeps us in violence." They also talked about how a vision of world peace can be seem as naive. Kind of like believing in unicorns and rainbows. However naive this might be it is preferable to the other vision of the world - the one that we know already. We need people with vision, belief, commtiment, enthusiasm and optimism to making change happen - small changes or bigger ones. We all have a responsibility starting within. I know you already are there Penny. I am writing this to myself really. xx

Peace would be a beautiful thing for all of the world to enjoy all at the same time. But will it ever happen before the Lord returns again?
Have a good day. Cindy

Hi Joyful! All this world unrest and calamity is hard to understand. Why must we resort to violence? Thank you for your heart-felt post today. You must try to understand and respect other cultures, and pray that they will do the same.

Our world depends on us. I pray we will act like it.
Blessings,
Ceil

I always pray for peace. some of the things occurring in the world deeply sadden me, but GOD can fix anything. We have to remain prayerful despite what it looks like because real faith is about what you can't see. The video clip has such a beautiful song a reminder of what is important.

I thought about the idea of "peace" for days after seeing this post. I feel as though I live in a savage land (the U.S.) where violence happens every day although none of the people I know personally are anything but peace-loving. It's an overwhelming problem here, where organizations with big money (like the National Rifle Association) seem to be able to overrule every call for gun control. I admire countries like Canada and Australia where gun violence is avoided through strict legislation and common sense (what common citizen needs to be armed, after all?). I wonder why we can't seem to achieve the same peace here.
