The Vancouver International Film Festival is happening in Vancouver again this week and continues next week. There are so many wonderful films to choose from.
How does one make a choice?
How does one make a choice?
Well in this case, one of the ladies I know looked for a 'feel good' film for a number of ladies and she came up with
"Fanie Fourie's Lobola"
It's another fantastic film from South Africa. It'll make you laugh and it will make you tear up too.
I've seen 4 South African films in the last 2 years and I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed every one of them. There are some wonderful films coming out of South Africa. I hope they continue to put out such spectacular work for all to enjoy.

While I was in the vicinity of the theatre venue I snapped these photos because I think it's always interesting to take a peek at the places where other people live.
As you can see, it is still raining here and it rained quite heavily as I made my way to the venue. When I came out it had stopped raining. Tomorrow we will have sunshine and it will be nice to have respite from the rain.

| Every year the city holds it's Remembrance Day or Armistace Day services in the small park across the street (where you see the tall, cylindrical cement structure). |

| The mountains are on the other side of the inlet. Also the community of North Vancouver is directly across. You can take a sea bus (ferry) at the terminal just to the left of the photo (red brick building peeking out). It's a nice short ride and you can see a lot from the waterfront. |

| The brewing company building anchors one end of the Gastown neighbourhood. Gastown is where Vancouver began and it is now a lovely tourist area. |

What a nice tour ! I am never follow Film Festivals, I seldom go to the cinema. Petula Clark's song reminds me my dancing days, lol !
Oh, thanks for the photos, Penny. When I was young, I worked for the Vancouver Sun, which was then located in the old Sun Tower on Beatty Street.
Water Street hadn't become Gastown yet, but Hastings Street was still respectable, with Woodward's department store a short walk on my lunch break if I needed to buy something and could manage to get through the day with no lunch.
I loved the film trailer, although I'm not very good at following subtitles since my cataract surgeries. If I'm reading the subtitles, I miss what's happening, and vice versa. LOL

It is raining buckets here today; a continent plus away, so I doubt the drops crossed country that quickly. I won't need to send a little gardener out to water plants tonight!
Your tall buildings remind me of looking out at a city sky line when I was a child. And going there with my parents.
Oh this is such a great post as you made me laugh but equally miss my home country South Africa. Thank you for showing me this clip I haven't seen it yet but will be doing so very soon. Hello Hannapat, I am so glad you enjoyed my post but am sorry to make you homesick when you are far from home. The films I've seen from South Africa have been over the course of about 2 years and they are called: "Come Back Africa" (an old film which was re-released); Stargazer (or Roepman); Searching for Sugarman (which is about an American but there is a strong connection to SA); and last but not least, Fannie Fourie's Lobola. Have you seen or heard of any of them?

Love to view again downtown . Days ago I also been to Waterfront. So the scene looks familiar . Like walking along Canada Trial to read the history and see the snow capped mountains in the sight. I am thrilled seeing such nice views as you know I am from Hong Kong never have snow. These days here is so gloomy and raining. Tomorrow fly out to Ohino and back on 6/12. If schedule would very love to have coffee. Send you email after that.
