A Busy Last Week in October

Hi friends,

I've been busy since I last shared in this space.

The weather has turned cool and the sunshine went away. We are now getting liquid sunshine. Sadly I didn't have an opportunity to get to my much desired walk in the park.  I'm still hoping to go soon and will share any photos I'm able to take.

In the meantime the weather has me doing domestic things.

First up, I made some delicious Butternut Squash Soup. It included carrots and potatoes and was even better than I anticipated. I also just love the autumnal colour. If you haven't made this soup yet you can find some good recipes at allrecipes.com

I'm currently making two different afghans. One is in the photo below. The other one (not pictured) is done in two colours: berry and magenta. I ran into some issues being able to get enough yarn for the latter. I started making it with my stash and when I returned to Michael's to purchase more yarn I discovered this yarn is now out of stock. I managed to find a very close match in a different brand of yarn as I don't have time to go searching for the same yarn or to try and find it on line.

A week or so ago I ordered  100 flocked hangers in violet colour just to get away from boring black.

The above hangers replace the large garbage bag of plastic hangers which I've advertised for giveaway. If no one wants them I'll see if I can donate them to a thrift store or other.

The hangers arrived late last week and on Thursday night I finally managed to start changing out the hangers in my bedroom closet. I ran out of hangers and am expecting another 100 in a few days. That will be more than enough.

I like the look of uniformity that the new hangers give.
It is kind of hard to tell due to all the patterned clothing but they are organized by colour and type (not by season).
I still have plastic hangers to change out which you can see to the left. I'm saving the very large and sturdy plastic hangers to use in the coat closet.

The following photos are from my archives.

Thank you for visiting.

Oh, no... Now I've gotta go to Amazon and look for those purple velvet hangers. Don't tell my hubby! ☺ That soup looks delicious. I just bought a butternut squash yesterday. The spider webs are amazing... and I loved the ducks. Thanks so much for sharing on FFF. Hope you have a great weekend! 💜

Love the ducks and sky photos, spider webs are always a favorite of mine to photograph (not to walk into, however!). Your new hangers are interesting! I assume the clothes stay on them much nicer and neater... You are very talented to do the knitting, etc. I have never learned how, being a 'lefty' always made things more difficult. The soup sounds good, although I don't know if I could get hubby to try it. Anyway, I enjoyed your photos, both archived and other. Have a blessed day...try to stay warm and dry!!

I am like that also, love everything to be organized and match, although I am not a perfectionist, sometimes it doesn't happen. Love Squash soup.

I love butternut squash and it's the season. Also the season of crocheting but I haven't worked on my WIP in over a month. You got a lot accomplished!

Wow love your archive photos they are excellent. Butternut soup is our favourite and the only recipe I use is the South African recipe on my cooking blog it is superb. I have tried differnt recipes at times, but Nigel says the SA one is streets ahead of any others 😊 Have a good weekend Diane

The figures on the Ark are wax figures, but are extremely life like They show a film and Noah looks exactly like the character in the movie. It's an amazing place.

I LOVE those hangers!! Makes the closet so much neater and the cloths hang so nicely on them.
They work great in our motor home too, they take up less space.
Your soup sounds delicious! I'm a soup girl and could eat it quite often, but not my husband.
Great photos, such beauty you have shared with us, thank you ~

The soup looks so delicious and wholesome. I haven’t seen butternut squash on the market in my place. Your photos are lovely; the 8th is my favorite.

The color on that soup is amazing - when I first looked at it, I thought it was a very large egg yolk! I like your new hangers, I have so many that are from the dry cleaners (when I worked and had suits that had to be dry cleaned) and the paper starts to deteriorate and it's really messy. Hmmm … might be time for a change!

Found your blog from the BMW In Her Shoes blog and I am so glad I did! I love to crochet and had looked at that very same yarn here at my local store but just couldn't think what to use it for. I believe I will borrow your pattern idea! And speaking of ideas... what a great idea of the lavender hangers. Though hangers may seem a small detail, they really added a nice touch to your closet!
