First Snow

We've had our first snow in the city! We had our first snow on the mountains a while ago, but overnight or early this morning, we had our first snow down below. I think the snow is very early this year.

It is coming down heavily right now on the patio but it looks like small balls of hail and not light fluffy snowflakes. Can you see the flakes falling in the photo? If you click the photo you can see the "snowflakes".

Hi there - just to balance things out, we had our first hot and sticky day yesterday. But now is cool and raining - such is life in Melbourne!

Thank you for your visit, Stewart. Now that winter is almost here, I long for some sun and warmth. But hot and sticky...no thanks, lol.

We had a LOT of snow today...I had to plow twice! Yours looks nice, though. I can see the snow in your picture!

Wow, Dimple, you really had a lot of snow. Mine didn't get much worse as it stopped snowing within the hour. Thankfully!

Looks like a hybrid, something between snow and hail. We had our first snowfall today, too. Yours will most likely be rained away before ours ever melts.

Yes, it is some kind of hybrid or small hail rather than snow. I sure hope it does melt. I'm not ready for winter :-) Already the Coquihalla Highway has been closed to traffic twice!

your succulents will be ok?

Hi Ann, thank you for stopping by. There are no succulents in my garden. It isn't warm enough here to grow them outside.

Hello Joyful.
Beautiful it looks - do you live in the U.S. - Canada or Africa? - I have searched your blog but can not fnde it.
We have not got snow - but last year we got the first snow around this time (November) and we had white in July
Wishing you a good weekend.
Hugs Hanne Bente ♥

Thank you, Hanne for your kind comments. I live in Canada. I'm surprised you got snow in Denmark in July.

Hello Joyful.
No, not in July - but we had a lot of snow from late November to about February - so we had a white christmas.
If I write in July to translate - translate it in July - so now I have written christmas.
Thanks, now I know that you live in Canada.
Hugs Hanne Bente ♥

Ok, I understand you now. It is nice to have snow at Christmas. But as for me I do not like snow where live as it gets to icy and sometimes too much slush (water in the snow). If it is dry snow I do not mind.

Hi Joyful,

Oh, you have had snow already!! Now I'm in Tokyo. There is something wrong about the weather in Tokyo. It was so cold yesterday, but today was a very warm rainy day with temporary strong gusts of wind which broke my umbrella. Your plants must have been surprised with sudden heavy snowfall.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Best wishes,
keiko

Snow white, the snow did take me by surprise and my plants too! I'm sorry about your umbrella. Such strong wind can be cold also. I'm glad it warmed up for you. Have a wonderful weekend.

Hello Geli, we have been hearing reports for a few months from the
weatherman that it will be a cold winter this year. I can see he is right. It isn't even winter yet and we have had both cold weather and snow! Brr.

LV, thank you for visiting. I can't imagine not having 4 seasons. I think where you live there is only 1 season. So I guess you must like it!

We keep waiting for winter.. but today was warm enough that I was in a summer blouse. :-) A storm is supposed to come in on Thanksgiving Day. I'm ready for winter.

You must be enjoying the snow! :-)Maybe you'll have a White Christmas! :)

Hello Living on Less, I am not in the acceptance stage for winter right now. I'd rather it came in January but I do like snow. I also like the 4 seasons. It's hard to imagine you in a blouse at this time of year in the USA. Happy Thanksgiving to you :-)

indeed, our first snow was a few weeks ago and left us without power for 6 days...that was a surprise! Still, it was quite beautiful:-)

Joyful said...

Thank you for stopping by Laura. I hope you were able to keep warm during your loss of power. It really goes to show you how reliant most of us are on the companies that provide power to our homes though I know some live off the grid and some are lucky enough to have firewood. In cities some of us are not "allowed" to burn wood any more due to health issues that some folks have.
