I was at the university over the past weekend for dinner and enjoyed the lovely Fall colours despite the overcast skies.
Autumn, the year's last, loveliest smile.”

I think the colour of the leaves on this tree is stunning. |
The Road Not Taken
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear,
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I marked the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear,
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I marked the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
I'm glad I captured the autumn photos when I did. Little did I know that within 48 hours we would experience this snowfall.
The snow on the mountains makes a beautiful scene and I've decided to use the photos for my Winter season blog banner. But the snow also brought cold temperatures today. |

Love this beautiful post, and your new header.
Lovely shots - and those pink leaves are just stunning!
Stunning surroundings and beautiful photos.
Thanks so much for the poem and what lovely pictures to with it.
Gorgeous shots of fall colors!!!
Great day to be taking pictures! The colours are beautiful and I really like your snow dusted mountains for the header.
I heard on the news that B.C. had received snow! Seems kinda early! :) The photo will make a lovely banner.
Lovely captures for the day and that is one of my favorite Robert Frost poems!! Great post, thanks for sharing the beauty!
What a beautiful Ode... I love seeing the trees slowly transform here as well. And that is one of favourite Robert Frost poems :)
Gorgeous photos and poem Penny.
Love Frost, and enjoyed your snaps!!!
Such amazing scenery and I love the poem. I have always loved Robert Frost.

You certainly have lovely fall colours Penny - nice capture. The winter view of snow on the mountains is wonderful - there is always an "upside" to any season, isn't there?
Oops snow already....... Love your autumn photos and also the verse. Keep well Diane
Beautiful reds!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River,Ontario.
Great Fall pics! And you are right, the red leaves are stunning!
Gorgeous photos! We haven't seen our colors turn yet. I'm hoping to talk hubby into driving into the Oklahoma/Arkansas version of mountains for some sightseeing once they DO turn!
I've always loved that poem, Penny.
So...I studied your photos to see which university you meant by "the university" but couldn't see any definite clues so am guessing you meant UBC, and the University Endowment Lands, although there are lots of trees up by Simon Fraser University, too.
Ms Curiosity here, you know.
Beautiful shots. I love the reds. Very few of them out here, although the bright yellows are nice against a blue sky. Right now everything is covered in heavy wet snow, and my little family (husband and dog) went for a walk anyway. I'm sure Lindy will lose one of her dog-boots if Dick doesn't watch her carefully.

Hi Kay, I deliberately didn't leave clues as to the university, lol. But it is UBC in the residential area. I'm glad you enjoyed the post. I did hear it snowed a lot up north and in Alberta. I hope you can keep warm. I'm finding it a bit too chilly for me as the weather has turned suddenly. It is always hard to keep it warm enough in my condo with all the big windows. Hugs. x
If only we could foresee our road's outcome. I love those photos and that you are enjoying a pleasant memory.
Hey Penny! Great pictures and great choice of accompanying poetry. I've loved that poem for a long time. You're doing some super stuff on the crafts front and I wish you success. Happy Wednesday!!!
Hello Joyful
Beautiful autumn images showing - autumn is incredibly footing with all the beautiful golden color.
Wish you a good day :)
Hugs Hann Bente
Oh how I love fall...and Robert Frost...
~Have a lovely day!
Wow - some great pictures here. Love the tree with the red leaves. Seems you have had snow quite early.
You are so right, it is always best to take your chance when it is offered and fall colour is just as charming in overcast conditions.
Thanks Wamakeri, how are you coming along in your knitting? Happy Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and so on ;-)
This place and the forest like scene invites for a autumn stroll! Love reading the poem... and snow capped mountain banner :)
Friend,
It's so nice to see places that remind us of happy memories. the purple looks beautiful. When i was in Co. and my family went to the mountains and the trees were all yellow and red it was just awesome. The poem is pretty neat, the road less traveled is where we will find God's special treasures. love me
