More Photos from My Journey

There are so many photos from my recent journey from Vancouver to northern Alberta and BC. I thought I would share more of the photos taken on the northward journey through the Rocky Mountain ranges since it is so beautiful.

The water looks so green.  The trees are nice and green too.

Everywhere you look there are mountains and lakes.

I was thrilled to see the Big Horn Sheep by the side of the highway. We stopped to capture these majestic animals.

Here we are entering the town of Hinton. Hinton is like most small towns on the prairies. They are not usually very picturesque and have one or two main streets with lot of signage.  Hinton is where we stayed last September on our northern journey.

I can wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant. Honestly everything that comes out of this kitchen looks scrumptious and the portions are very generous. Just the right thing for a break during a long journey.

As some of you know, we were on our way to visit my aunt and uncle (siblings of my mother) both of whom are facing cancer challenges.

On the journey I found out that cysts my aunt has on both sides of her chest do not appear to be cancerous. On one side, they are filled with blood. I don't know the reason for that but they have been leaking. On the other side the cysts hurt. The doctor has run some tests said that he will keep an eye on things but for now he doesn't suspect cancer.

My uncle has finished with his tests since I returned home. His lungs are weak but his heart is strong so the doctors may go ahead and operate to take out the cancer from the colon. However my uncle who has been a life long smoker has been told he must stop smoking for 2-3 weeks to give his lungs a better chance.  He is balking at the suggestion. He needs prayer.

I hope you visit again soon. I will share more photos of Alberta.

Please visit Scenic Sunday to see more beautiful scenes from around the world.

Wow Penny, what an epic trip and glorious scenery, which you have captured so well. 3,500Km+ in 5 days plus visiting with relatives must have been totally exhausting!

I traced your journey on your map and your posting made very interesting reading. It's amazing how maps can show so clearly the change in topography - just see the grid of roads on the prairie compared to the few twisting roads through the mountains!

I remember very well my all too brief visit to Vancouver Island in 2007 and how towering snow clad mountain tops suddenly sprang out at you as you turned corners in the forests. Awesome scenery.

My thoughts and best wishes are with you and your family at this difficult time.

Oh those mountains are magnificent. I love traveling through this beautiful country with you, Penny. I'm so grateful that your aunt seems to be fine. I will pray for your uncle to leave off the smoking to strengthen his lungs. Blessings and love Jo

Wow, what a stunning country you live in Penny ... those mountains look chilly though ...

... are the Bighorn sheep wild or are they farmed commercially?

I wish the best for your Aunt and Uncle.

Wonderful shots, especially the first one with the sheep. I haven't yet had my fill of the mountains, and it's been most of my life that I have been seeing them and living near or in them.
Blessings to you, and I pray for your relatives' health.

Thanks so much for tracing my route on the map. I think that gives a better sense of the journey when viewed against the photos. It's great that you've already been to Vancouver Island so you have a little idea of the majesty of the scenery. I appreciate your kind thoughts for family members.

Glad you had a chance to "ride along" with me Jo. Thank you too for your prayers. Blessings. xx

Thank you, Graham for your kind words. Whether it is chilly in the mountains depends on the weather/season. When we went up it wasn't cold.

The Bighorn sheep are wild.

Thanks for the good wishes for my family members.

Hi Joe, I'm so glad you enjoyed the scenery. I'm amazed that you watched "Corner Gas" and I'm glad you liked it. I think it is now off the air unless they are re-running episodes.

Yes, I am blessed. I live in a beautiful country. I find even the flat land (prairies) very beautiful in it's own way. Thank you for the notice of the new header. It's a photo of the lush gardens at a small church near where I live. I just put the new header up last night ;-)

Dimple, I know what you mean about the mountains. Thank you for your prayers.

What utterly gorgeous scenes of the mountains, rivers, valleys, lakes, and bighorn sheep. Those are lovely flowering shrubs by your nearby church that you have in your header photo!

I'm sure your aunt and uncle were delighted with your visit. I'll pray that your uncle will stop smoking and that the doctors can help both your relatives to heal.
